Welcome to Hinton Social Badminton, which has been created to enable those with an interest in playing mixed doubles* Badminton to enjoy a few matches once a week. Many of our members are players returning to the sport after a period of non-involvement. We welcome a mix of skill levels,** abilities, age*** and gender.
Initially, back in October 2018, we started with just 2 people meeting up to play Badminton. The suggestion was made that we could enhance our skills by adding more players. And so Hinton Social Badminton was created.
The group has seen a steady growth, with our membership having reached 32, with an average weekly attendance of 19 players. We currently utilise all 4 courts in the main Sports Hall and our sessions are 2 hours in length, from 7pm-9pm at Netherhall Sports Centre, Queen Edith's Way, Cherry Hinton.
We keep our games fairly balanced, with enough competition to be challenging, but still relaxed enough to be fun for all.
Aside from the Badminton, the group has a strong social ethos, so we regularly discuss sporting activities on our 'Members' WhatsApp Group.

* As a result of gender imbalance within the group, mixed doubles pairings are not guaranteed.
** The terms of our booking do not allow us to offer any form of coaching so we are unable to accept beginner and novice level players.
*** Owing to Safeguarding legislation, minimum age is 18 years.
