Information for new players

When and where does the club play?

Every Tuesday evening, we meet up at Netherhall School Sports Centre at 7:00pm. Sessions take place in the main Sports Hall utilising 3 adjacent courts (increasing to 4 courts from Sept 2023,) and last 120 minutes. The courts are managed using a whiteboard which displays players and court allocation for each game, which we believe helps us to mix up playing partnerships, whilst also ensuring that everyone gets a fair share of time on court.

How much does a session cost?

Initially, all new players join us for a free taster session, by way of an introduction to the group, its processes and its members.

After that, all members pay an equal share of court costs in the form of a Bi-Annual subscription of around £70, which covers a 6 month block booking.

As this works out at £2.70 per person per session, we believe that this provides the most cost effective option for our members.

Do I need to bring a racquet and shuttlecocks?

It's not essential. We provide shuttlecocks and have a couple of spare rackets available to borrow, at free taster sessions. You may find bringing your own racket if you have one, enhances your game. If you don't, buying a new one will cost anything from £15 for an entry level  up to £50 for the more expert type. We advise wearing comfortable clothing, and suitable footwear, ideally training shoes. You may choose to bring a bottle of water.

I haven't played for a few years. Can I join?

We welcome players wishing to return to the sport. Many of our members joined us for that very reason. The club is a mix of skill levels and abilities. For each game, we prefer to rotate players around so you won't necessarily play with the same partner, nor against the same opponents repeatedly. This  is to ensure that we offer variety at our sessions for all players.

Welcome to the Hinton Social Badminton Ticket Hub.

A range of subscriptions are offered to current and new members. Our products are designed to offer the best value for your money. Payment can be made via the BACS system.
